Katy Cooper is a choral conductor, arranger, primary school music teacher and university tutor and lecturer based in Glasgow. She studied music at the University of Glasgow gaining an MA(Hons) in 2002 and an MMus in Musicology in 2003. She is currently writing up a PhD on the commonplacebook of Robert Edward, a seventeenth century Scottish minister. Katy has a teaching fellowship at the University of Glasgow for 2009/2010. Katy also conducts Cathures, an SATB chamber choir based in Glasgow and Happy Voices Children's Choir (Giffnock/Eastwood). She has also worked with Glasgow University Chapel Choir, Glasgow University Choral Society, Merchant Voices and continues to work as a tutor with English organisation Sing for Pleasure. Katy has been involved with various television and radio projects including coaching and directing the choir and cast members of BBC1 drama Fiona's Story, directed by Adrian Shergold. She was the Musical Director of the 'Auld Lang Syne' film, directed by Graham Strong and specially commissioned to herald the start of Homecoming Scotland 2009 at the 08/09 Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Party. One of the video's purposes was to encourage 100,000 people to sing along, in the largest ever mass rendition of the song. Katy was also filmed for a forthcoming BBC documentary on Auld Lang Syne. Radio work includes live interviews on BBC Radio Scotland's Radio Cafe, and Global Gathering programmes and her arrangements have had airplay on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Scotland. An experienced choral singer and conductor, Katy is Senior Choral Scholar with Glasgow University Chapel Choir and sings with Sine Nomine International Touring Choir and award winning folk-harmony group Muldoon's Picnic. Catriona Hutchinson is co-founder and co-director of Madrigirls. In 2004 she completed her MA honours degree in history at the University of Glasgow and now works for Scottish Opera. She trained as a chorister in Edinburgh. Her singing career has spanned everything from Dido and Aeneas to weekly choral singing, musicals and performances of Early Music. Catriona held a Choral Scholarship at GU Chapel Choir for four years and continues to sing with them as an alumni member. |
