This attractive selection of favourite repertoire from the Madrigirls includes some nicely sung Scottish Renaissance repertoire beside medieval polyphony and repertoire popularised some years ago now by Bulgarian womenıs choirs. In spite of their name, these are no Medieval Babes but highly competent musicians, and the attractive arrangements they sing are instantly enjoyable and accessible. Their modern English pronunciation of the Scots partsongs is disappointing at a Scottish University, but the reversal of parts in the likes of the familiar Remember me, casting the melody into the middle of the texture, is both interesting and stimulating. Their pleasing tone and unity of articulation throughout this CD allow me to recommend it thoroughly.
